About the Color and Clarity of diamonds

Color

The diamonds we select for our Diamond earrings are hand selected with careful attention paid to the color, cut and clarity of each diamond. For most of our earrings and jewelry the G/H color we select places the diamonds in a near colorless range. What this means is, when you look down at the diamond, you will not detect any secondary colorations in the gem.

In a Gemological grading room, when diamonds are professionally evaluated, the gems are examined, un-mounted and upside down against a standard white background, under a controlled light. Then, subtle differences in the color of the diamond are observed and the stone is graded accordingly.

We feel and our many customers have found that the G/H color range is really ideal for earrings, bracelets and pendants. Since there is no noticable coloration in the diamonds at this grading the earrings appear bright white. Therefore for diamond earrings G/H is very suitable. Also, we highly recommend using white gold or platinum for the diamond settings as these metals encourage the whiteness of the gems.

But for those customers with specific requests, DiamondEarrings.com has a large inventory of diamonds and we do provide diamonds in all of the grades available.

(Pertaining to the stepping up of color quality in diamond earrings over G/H, we would like to point out, that we have found the visible difference relative to the dramatic increase in cost is not always that noticable. It is in our opinion that an increase in diamond size is far more visible.)

Clarity

For the majority of our diamond earrings we select an SI clarity, which translates as slight inclusions.

In the gem grading system there are 3 grades of SI: SI1, SI2, and SI3. Formerly SI3 was called an I1, a grading point when the natural inclusions in the diamond are a little more visible.

At Diamondearrings.com we select not to regard SI3 as suitable for our earrings. We stay within the SI1 and SI2 range and therefore our diamonds are virtually eye clean. That means, without a 10power loupe, you will have a difficult time seeing any natural inclusions in our earring diamonds.

Therefore, adhering to a G/H color and an SI clarity for Diamond Earrings, you will receive from us bright-white, eye-clean diamonds, which, along with our outstanding cut, will provide you dazzling Diamond earrings you will be both proud to give and to wear.
